Sarepta (SRPT) reported Q2 total revenue of $401.3M, down 34% YoY (and net product revenue of $328.7M, down from a year prior), largely reflecting weaker ELEVIDYS demand and the non-recurrence of a regulatory milestone payment. Non-GAAP diluted EPS fell to $0.64 vs. $2.02 prior year, though the company maintained non-GAAP operating income of $86.5M amid cost discipline; cash and investments rose to $945.0M (+$197M in the quarter). Guidance was narrowed/cautiously reset: 2026 net product revenue to $1.2B–$1.3B (downward-trending), non-GAAP OpEx tightened to $800M–$850M, and collaboration/other revenue raised to $550M–$600M (+$75M vs prior midpoint) on higher Roche contract manufacturing expectations. On the regulatory and pipeline front, FDA accepted sNDA submissions for AMONDYS 45 and VYONDYS 53 with a PDUFA date of Feb. 28, 2027, and ELEVIDYS Endeavor Cohort 8 is expected to complete enrollment by end-2026 with 12-week data in Q1 2027.

Analysis

The setup is less about near-term solvency than about fading growth credibility. SRPT is still generating real cash, but the market will likely penalize any business where the revenue bridge into next year depends on a 6-month conversion funnel that has not yet visibly re-accelerated; that creates a valuation overhang even if the balance sheet looks fine. The one subtle positive is that cost discipline is now doing more work than product momentum, so headline profitability may mask weakening operating leverage rather than fixing it.

The more important second-order issue is franchise defense. The PMO business has installation advantages, but once a credible Exon 51 competitor arrives, the first hit is usually not catastrophic share loss—it is higher retention spend, more reauthorization friction, and slower pricing realization, which can compress margins before volumes roll over. On ELEVIDYS, the relevant question is not whether demand exists; it is whether the current form pipeline converts fast enough to support a real 2027 step-up. If it does not, this is a deferred-growth story, not a reacceleration story.

The catalyst stack is binary and mostly out in time: Q3/Q4 commercial conversion data in months, cohort 8/siRNA readouts in 2H26-1Q27, and regulatory outcomes in 1H27. The contrarian risk is that investors may be underweighting how much of the stock still depends on biomarker-only data and safety de-risking; if FSHD/DM1 only show exposure without compelling dose-response, the platform premium should compress. Falsifiers are straightforward: sustained start-form acceleration, a clear Q4 revenue inflection, or clean cohort 8 safety with supportive expression signals.
