Wall Street sets Google stock price for the next 12 months

Ahead of Alphabet’s July 22, 2026 earnings report, Bank of America reiterated a Buy and raised its 12-month GOOGL target to $430 from $370.92, implying 15.94% upside. Truist also kept a $430 target (Buy), while Citigroup lifted its target to $447 (Buy), implying 20.52% upside. Analysts cite expected strong revenues and Google Cloud strength tied to the AI boom, forecasting Q2 revenue of $102.1B (vs $101.0B consensus) and EPS of $8.38 (vs $2.90 consensus), with an estimated $80B Q2 operating-income benefit from revaluing its Anthropic stake.

Analysis

The setup is less about the analysts’ upside and more about whether the market is still willing to pay for a mix of recurring operating strength and non-recurring valuation marks. If reported earnings are padded by a stake revaluation, the risk is that the print looks mechanically strong while the underlying ad/cloud engine is merely fine; that often produces an initial gap higher followed by multiple compression once investors strip out the mark.

The real second-order read-through is on AI capex concentration. If cloud demand is truly inflecting, the downstream winners are the picks-and-shovels names that monetize incremental infrastructure spend first: NVDA, AVGO, ANET, and, to a lesser extent, TSM. The competitive losers are the hyperscalers that need to defend share with lower pricing or heavier capex; that matters most for AMZN and MSFT if Google shows better AI workload traction than expected.

Consensus may be overconfident on the durability of the earnings upgrade because targets are converging around a stock that has already re-rated. Near term, the stock can still work if management lifts 3Q guidance or cloud backlog, but the cleaner 1-3 month catalyst is not the headline EPS beat—it is evidence that AI monetization is translating into higher operating margins, not just higher spend. Falsifiers: cloud growth decelerates, capex guidance spikes without revenue leverage, or the market treats the Anthropic mark as a one-off and sells the stock on strength.
