METLEN - RÉSULTATS FINANCIERS DU PREMIER SEMESTRE 2026

METLEN reports strong H1 2026 results: revenue €3,987m (+11% y/y) and record EBITDA €550m (+105m vs. €445m in H1 2025). Net profit attributable to the group rose to €313m (from €254m) and EPS increased to €2.18 (from €1.81). The company kept its 2026 EBITDA guidance at €1.0–€1.15bn and reduced adjusted net debt by €728m to cut the net debt/EBITDA ratio to 1.7x from 3.1x at FY2025, supported by operating cash flow.

Analysis

The real signal is not the earnings beat; it is the change in financial regime. A business that was being valued as a mixed industrial/project story is now closer to a self-funding platform with equity optionality, because lower leverage reduces the probability of dilutive capital raises and compresses the equity risk premium. That is usually when the multiple expands first, before sell-side models fully catch up.

The near-term winner is the stock itself, but the second-order beneficiaries are the capital providers and equipment ecosystems tied to its next growth phase. If management converts the current balance-sheet repair into sustained sub-2x leverage, bank financing for storage and metals capex should come in tighter, while BESS suppliers and grid-component vendors gain a cleaner counterparty. The gallium off-take is more important as de-risking than as revenue today: it can turn a speculative critical-minerals project into a bankable industrial asset, which matters for strategic buyers and European supply-chain policy.

The main risk is that investors extrapolate a clean run-rate too quickly. If legacy project close-outs leak into the next two quarters, or if working capital reverses the cash-flow optics, the market will fade the move as a one-off rather than a structural reset. Time horizon matters: the first reaction is sentiment, the next 1-3 months should be driven by evidence of completion and leverage persistence, and 6-18 months by whether storage scaling and gallium execution actually convert into durable FCF.

Contrarian view: the move may be underpriced if the market is still anchored to 2025 execution issues; but it may also be overowned by investors treating improved leverage as permanent without waiting for a second consecutive quarter of cash conversion. That makes the stock more interesting on confirmation than on the print itself.
