Technoprobe S.p.A. (THNBY) Q2 2026 Earnings Call Transcript

Technoprobe reported record H1 2026 revenues of EUR 464.1M, up 42.4% YoY and 48.2% sequentially, citing broad-based demand tied to the continuing AI investment cycle. Profitability surged with gross profit up ~66% YoY and gross margin expanding to 53.8%, while EBITDA nearly doubled (+~94%) to >EUR 206M and delivered a 44.4% margin. Management also reiterated it will present Q3 2026 guidance alongside the results, pointing to further momentum as volumes drive operating leverage.

Analysis

This is a clean read-through for the AI test-and-measurement chain, but the bigger implication is not just higher end-demand; it is sustained pricing power in a subsegment where capacity is usually the binding constraint. If Technoprobe is seeing broad-based volume strength with margin expansion, that tends to pull forward confidence in adjacent suppliers with advanced-node exposure, especially FormFactor (FORM) and, more selectively, Teradyne (TER) on the test side. The second-order loser is any legacy semiconductor tooling name still anchored to consumer/auto mix: the AI wallet is concentrating spend into a narrower set of vendors, which can widen multiple dispersion inside semicap equipment over the next 1-3 months.

Near term, the market will likely extrapolate this print into a longer runway, but the real catalyst is customer capex commentary over the next two earnings cycles. Probe cards are an early indicator, yet they can also peak before wafer starts if hyperscaler/ASIC ramps pause or if advanced-packaging inventories normalize. What would falsify the bullish read is not one quarter of strong revenue, but a deceleration in guide despite still-lofty AI capex headlines, or gross margin failing to hold if utilization slips.

The contrarian view is that consensus may be underestimating how much of the margin beat is mix and operating leverage rather than a step-function in secular TAM. If AI intensity shifts toward chiplets, HBM, and more outsourced test, some of today’s upside can migrate to OSATs and alternative test architectures rather than staying with the current winners. For that reason, the better trade is relative-value exposure to the probe/test complex, not an outright chase of the headline print at any price.
