In that framework, GOOGL and AMZN are the more important second-order beneficiaries than the pure plays: they gain lower-latency AI supply optionality without owning the full buildout risk, and they can arbitrage capacity across customers if one program slips.

Cerebras’ key fragility is customer concentration plus execution asymmetry. When a single anchor customer becomes both the demand engine and the financing source, any delay turns from “growth miss” into a financing event, because capex has to precede revenue recognition. That creates a near-term setup where the stock can continue to rerate on announced capacity, but the first operational hiccup could compress multiple simultaneously—especially if hyperscaler alternatives or custom silicon reduce the need for specialized inference hardware.

SpaceX looks structurally better, but the market is probably underestimating how much of the AI upside is still a call option on Starship reliability and power delivery. The important catalyst window is 6-18 months: if launch cadence and data-center throughput improve, the company can broaden from connectivity into a platform with multiple monetization layers; if not, the AI narrative remains capital-intensive and discount-rate sensitive. The counterintuitive risk is that success in satellite broadband may actually slow margin expansion by funding more low-return expansion before the AI business is fully proven.

Consensus is likely overpaying for the idea that every AI infrastructure winner will be judged like Nvidia. The more durable winners here are the platform owners with embedded distribution and financing advantages, while the pure-play compute vendor is the more binary outcome. In other words, the market may be underweight the probability that GOOGL and AMZN capture the economically attractive parts of the value chain while offloading construction and utilization risk to partners.
