S.T. Dupont reports FY 2025-26 revenue of €55.8m (down 1.8% y/y; +0.6% organic), with FX the main drag (-2.4% reported impact). Operating profit improved to €2.8m from €2.5m, but net income fell to €2.0m from €3.4m as the prior year benefited from a higher income tax position (€1.4m vs €0.2m). Net cash declined to €2.5m from €5.6m, attributed to higher inventory ahead of key launches (26/27) and slower-than-expected receivables.

Analysis

The key issue is not the modest top-line swing; it is that the business is still converting accounting profit into very little balance-sheet flexibility. A net cash position of only a few million euros against a highly seasonal brand with working-capital needs leaves the equity exposed to any slip in sell-through, especially if the upcoming launch cycle disappoints or if receivables keep aging. The market should treat this as a liquidity-quality story first and a brand story second.

The mix is also subtly worse than the aggregate suggests. Strength in high-margin legacy products and licensing is being partially offset by channel rationalization, FX, and weaker controlled distribution, which usually means less visibility and more dependence on wholesalers. That matters because a shift toward agents/distributors can support reported revenue in the near term while masking weaker pricing power and lower control over inventory, making any rebound more fragile over the next 1-3 quarters.

The contrarian point: the consensus may be underestimating how much of the apparent resilience is timing-related rather than structural. The inventory build ahead of launches can help future sales, but if sell-through is soft, the company will be forced into discounting or slower replenishment, which would pressure gross margin and cash again within 6-18 months. The clean falsifier is cash conversion: if working capital does not reverse by the next reporting cycle and net cash stays around current levels or lower, the equity should continue to de-rate versus better-capitalized luxury names.
