Celestica: Buy Ahead Of Earnings (Preview)

Celestica posted Q1 revenue up 50% YoY and adjusted EPS up 80% YoY, then lifted FY2026 guidance to $19.0B revenue (+11.7%) and $10.15 EPS (+16%). Management also guided EBIT margin up by 300 bps while keeping CAPEX unchanged. Despite the upgrade, the stock dropped 15.6% after earnings as Broadcom flagged softer AI semiconductor growth and reports said Google is looking for alternative suppliers.

Analysis

The selloff looks more like a de-rating of AI supply-chain names than a fundamental reset in CLS earnings power. If hyperscalers are genuinely multi-sourcing, the first-order hit is not volume but bargaining leverage: gross margin and mix can compress even while revenue still grows, because the customer can shift incremental builds to second-tier EMS/ODM vendors. That creates a winner’s circle outside the article—Jabil, Flex, and Sanmina can pick up share if Google is actively dual-sourcing rather than simply threatening it.

For AVGO, the risk is not that AI is "over," but that the market is moving from scarcity to procurement discipline. A single soft guide on AI growth is enough to cap multiple expansion for 1-3 months because the stock is priced off sustained AI acceleration; however, Broadcom’s diversified cash flow makes this a sentiment issue unless follow-through weakness shows up in next-quarter bookings or networking attach rates. GOOGL is the relative beneficiary if supplier diversification is real: it lowers execution risk and may improve pricing, but the market will care only if it shows up in capex efficiency or faster deployment cadence over 6-18 months.

The consensus is likely missing that the market is punishing "AI infrastructure" as a basket even when company-specific fundamentals diverge. CLS’s raised outlook argues against a demand cliff; what’s being repriced is customer concentration risk and the possibility that hyperscalers are negotiating from a position of strength. That makes this an alert, not a conviction short, until we see evidence of order-share loss in the next print or Google commentary that confirms supplier reallocation.
