Marvell Technology Skyrocketed on a Stunning Nvidia Endorsement: Could It Be the Next Trillion-Dollar AI Stock?

Marvell Technology has risen more than 40% since Jensen Huang's bullish comments, but the article argues the move may have priced in much of the near-term upside. Revenue grew 28% year over year in the first quarter, while Wall Street expects growth to accelerate to 41% in the rest of 2026 and 45% next year. Despite the improved outlook, Marvell still trades at 76x forward earnings versus Nvidia at 24x, making the stock look expensive after its recent spike.

Analysis

The key implication is not that Marvell is “good” in isolation, but that Nvidia is effectively validating a broader silicon ecosystem where specialized networking and custom compute are becoming complementary to the GPU stack. That supports second-order demand for the infrastructure layer, but it also raises the bar for timing: once a company is repriced on AI optionality, the market usually requires accelerating estimates every quarter to avoid multiple compression. In other words, the stock now needs a beat-and-raise cadence, not just structural AI exposure.

The market is likely underestimating how crowded the “AI picks-and-shovels” trade has become. If Marvell’s growth re-accelerates only gradually, the current valuation leaves little room for execution slips, product delays, or hyperscaler capex normalization over the next 6-12 months. Meanwhile, Nvidia’s endorsement may be less about charity and more about ecosystem control — keeping a partner close can reduce platform fragmentation while preserving Nvidia’s own pricing power.

The contrarian read is that the relative-value setup may be better than the outright long. Marvell can work if the thesis is that custom ASIC adoption and data-center networking both expand faster than expected, but the cleaner expression is to own the platform beneficiary with lower earnings risk and use Marvell as a trading vehicle only on pullbacks. NFLX is likely noise here; the useful signal is sentiment spillover into adjacent AI names, which can inflate multiples temporarily but tends to reverse when growth decelerates by even a few points.

Near term, the main catalyst is not product news but estimate revisions over the next 2-3 earnings prints. If the market starts pricing 40%+ revenue growth as the new baseline, the stock can continue higher; if growth merely meets expectations, valuation becomes the pressure point. The risk is a classic post-rerate digestion phase lasting 1-2 quarters, especially if AI capex breadth narrows to the largest platforms.
