ServiceTitan surges 12% on strong Q1 results, guidance

ServiceTitan beat fiscal Q1 expectations with an adjusted loss of $0.24 per share versus a $0.29 loss expected, while revenue rose 25% year over year to $268.8 million, ahead of the $256.7 million consensus. The company also guided Q2 revenue to $284 million-$286 million and full-year fiscal 2027 revenue to $1.13 billion-$1.14 billion, with improving profitability as adjusted operating margin expanded to 15.2% from 7.5%. Shares jumped 12.5% on the stronger-than-expected results and outlook.

Analysis

TTAN’s print matters less for the quarter itself than for what it says about monetization durability in a still-cyclical SMB vertical. The key second-order signal is that software penetration is deepening enough to lift both operating leverage and cash generation even while the company is still in a loss-making phase, which usually accelerates multiple expansion once investors believe the model can self-fund growth. That combination should pressure public and private vertical SaaS comps serving fragmented trades/field-service markets, because the market will now demand proof of similar retention and margin inflection elsewhere.

The larger winner may be the “automation layer” ecosystem: if TTAN can justify an agentic workflow narrative with real gross transaction volume and retention, adjacent workflow, payments, and AI enablement vendors can point to an easier buyer justification and shorter payback period. Conversely, any competitor selling point solutions to contractors now faces a tougher land-grab environment, because the suite economics are improving while customer acquisition efficiency is likely strengthening with scale. That tends to compress the window for smaller niche vendors to win new logos without discounting.

The main risk is not this quarter’s execution but expectation reset over the next 1–2 quarters: the stock has likely moved ahead of a full-year proof point, and the guide needs to be translated into sustained billings quality, not just revenue and margin beats. If net retention drifts below the 110% floor or free cash flow stays negative longer than expected, the market can quickly re-rate the name from “durable compounder” to “good but pricey growth story.” The most important reversal catalyst is any sign that AI-led product messaging is outrunning actual workflow monetization, which would hit sentiment fast even if headline growth remains healthy.
