WillScot reported Q2 total revenue of $612.2M (+4% YoY), beating its prior expectation of ~$585M, with leasing and services revenue up 6% YoY and delivery/installation revenue up >25% YoY. Adjusted EBITDA was $227.9M, topping the $223M outlook, though margins compressed ~500 bps YoY due to ~250 bps of activation-related upfront costs. The company raised FY2026 guidance by $50M to ~$2.3B revenue and increased FY adjusted EBITDA guidance to ~ $920M; Q3 revenue is guided at ~$585M (+3% YoY) with adjusted EBITDA ~$232M (~39.7% margin). Cash flow remained strong with adjusted free cash flow of $55.1M and net debt of ~$3.5B (no maturities until Aug. 2028) supported by ~$1.5B liquidity under the ABL facility.

Analysis

WSC looks less like a simple cyclical recovery and more like a mix-shift story: the company is monetizing complexity, not broad construction volume. That matters because the incremental dollars are increasingly tied to enterprise projects with longer duration and higher service content, which should support pricing power and a better lease base in 2027 even if headline construction stays soft. The near-term consequence is lower reported conversion today, but the second-order effect is improved fleet utilization and a tighter market for differentiated units, which can widen the gap versus smaller regional operators that lack installation/logistics scale.

The main risk is that this is a capex-led pre-investment cycle, so free cash flow is the right near-term bearish talking point if activations keep outrunning lease recognition. That pressure should persist for one to two quarters; the key catalyst path is sequential margin recovery in Q3/Q4 as one-off event costs roll off and leased units season into revenue. Failing that, the market will punish the story as "growth without cash flow" and compress the multiple despite raised guidance.

Contrarian view: consensus may be underestimating how much of the demand is coming from project complexity rather than an all-clear macro signal. If that is true, the stock can work even without a broad nonresidential rebound. The thesis breaks if order growth decelerates, if Q3 margin expansion is materially below plan, or if the 2027 pipeline proves more delay-prone than management is implying.
