Century Casinos reported Q2 net operating revenue of $152 million (+1% YoY) and record adjusted EBITDA of $31.7 million (+5% YoY). Operating leverage strengthened, with U.S. adjusted EBITDAR up 12% YoY to $28.9 million and the Nugget posting +93% adjusted EBITDAR, while U.S. operating margin rose 200 bps to 26%. Balance sheet optics improved as net debt-to-EBITDA improved to 6.5x with a target to get below 6x by FY2026 end, and management indicated July showed double-digit EBITDA growth with early Q3 data positive. Offsets included Poland headwinds (Warsaw table-game hold below historical norms and Hilton Warsaw closure) but management said the transition is complete with no license expirations over the next two years and liquidity/leverage reduction remains a priority via potential sale of Canadian/Polish assets.

Analysis

CNTY is starting to look less like a turnaround story and more like a self-help cash-flow compounding story: the operating leverage is real, and that matters more than the headline growth rate. The market should focus on the mix shift toward U.S./Canada and the implied step-down in capex, because that combination can de-risk the equity even before any asset sale closes. If management keeps converting incremental revenue into EBITDA at this pace, the multiple can expand from distressed to merely cheap; if not, the stock remains a balance-sheet trade, not a quality compounder.

The second-order winner is the local casino footprint that can refresh slot floors and database-market without needing new-build economics; the losers are smaller regional competitors that rely on aging product and less sophisticated reinvestment. Alberta’s iGaming launch not showing cannibalization is an important read-through: physical venues with sportsbook-ready assets may actually benefit from cross-channel acquisition, while pure-play digital operators overestimate substitution. In Poland, the key risk is not the current quarter but whether the stabilization narrative survives once the easy comps fade and any hold normalization reverses the recent boost.

The overhang is leverage and timing. The equity will likely trade on the next proof point for the Canadian sale process and on whether Q3 can sustain double-digit EBITDA growth without favorable hold or event-driven noise. If asset monetization slips into 2027, the story shifts back to a highly levered leisure name with limited margin for execution error; if a package is announced before year-end, the stock can re-rate quickly as the market prices a cleaner balance sheet and lower refinancing risk.
