Helium One shares soar as both key projects advance

Helium One (HE1) shares surged 20% after announcing finalized negotiations with the Tanzanian Government for a Mining Licence at its Southern Rukwa helium project, establishing a joint venture (83% HE1, 17% Government). This follows the completion of a successful drilling program at its Colorado Galactica-Pegasus project, confirming production potential with flow rates reaching over 360 Mcfd and helium concentrations up to 1.52%; initial production is targeted for Q4 2025.

Analysis

Helium One Global Ltd (AIM:HE1) shares experienced a significant 20% appreciation, trading at 0.99p and resulting in a market valuation of approximately £60 million, following two positive operational updates. The company announced the finalisation of negotiations with the Tanzanian Government for a Mining Licence at its Southern Rukwa helium project, which will be operated under a new joint venture, Songwe Helium Ltd, with Helium One holding an 83% stake and the government 17%. This milestone is the culmination of extensive exploration, successful well drilling, resource discovery, and an extended well test, with the Mining Licence application initially filed in September of the previous year. Concurrently, Helium One reported the successful completion of its 2025 development drilling program at the 50%-owned Galactica-Pegasus project in Colorado, where all six wells yielded positive results, confirming production potential. Notably, the State-9 well flowed naturally at over 360 thousand cubic feet per day (Mcfd) with helium concentrations up to 1.52%, and projected stabilised flow rates are anticipated between 400 to 600 Mcfd. This Colorado development positions Helium One for initial production and revenue generation in Q4 of the current year, utilizing the Pinon Canyon Plant. Analyst firm Panmure Liberum views the Tanzanian agreement positively, emphasizing the new licence framework's potential for developing substantial helium resources, though it advises patience as Helium One is pioneering helium commercialisation in Tanzania, which involved creating a new regulatory framework potentially shaped to be favorable for the company.
