Marvell raised its FY27 revenue guide by $5 billion and now implies about $11.5 billion in revenue, up 40% year over year, with FY28 guided to roughly $16.5 billion, or 45% growth. Interconnect growth was also lifted from 50% to more than 70% YoY, supported by a dual engine of custom silicon wins (Trainium, Maia, Meta DPU, Google Axion) and optical interconnect. The update materially strengthens the company’s AI infrastructure growth story and is likely supportive for the shares.

Analysis

The market is still underpricing the mix shift inside the AI infra stack: custom silicon plus optical interconnect creates a much higher duration earnings stream than a single-product AI exposure. That matters because it widens Marvell’s addressable wallet share across hyperscalers, but it also increases the strategic value of the two named beneficiaries: META and GOOGL are no longer just compute buyers, they are potential co-design customers with leverage over roadmap, pricing, and supply allocation.

Second-order, the biggest winner is not just the chip vendor ecosystem but the network/optics supply chain. Faster interconnect growth implies tighter demand for lasers, packaging, substrates, and advanced test capacity, which should keep gross margin pressure on smaller component suppliers subdued for longer. The losers are peers with only one leg of the stool—custom silicon without optics, or optics without a sovereign relationship with hyperscalers—because buyers will increasingly consolidate spend with vendors that can solve bottlenecks end-to-end.

The main risk is timing: the guide is a multi-year story, but the stock will trade on evidence of design wins converting into volume over the next 2-3 quarters. Any delay in AI capex, internal chip program slippage, or a broader digestion phase in hyperscaler spending could compress the multiple before the revenue inflection arrives. The contrarian read is that consensus may be extrapolating the revenue slope too cleanly; if interconnect proves the bottleneck, pricing power could improve faster than units, creating upside even if unit growth pauses temporarily.

For META and GOOGL, the setup is asymmetric: if their custom silicon efforts scale, they gain cost/performance control and reduce dependence on merchant AI chips, but if execution slips, they remain exposed to rising infrastructure costs. That makes them both beneficiaries and residual risk bearers, while suppliers with scarce optical capacity should see a longer-than-expected demand tail as hyperscalers de-risk architectures rather than narrow them.
