This is a quiet but meaningful signal that distributed industrial power users are still choosing efficiency upgrades over outright electrification when grid reliability and fuel optionality matter more than headline decarbonization. The second-order beneficiary is not just the engine OEM; it is the gas value chain around captive industrial demand, because converting a high-load site from liquid fuel to gas tends to lock in multi-year throughput and service revenue with very sticky maintenance economics. For the cement operator, the bigger edge is margin stability: lower variable energy cost and lower consumables usage can materially cushion cyclical pricing pressure without needing a full plant rebuild.

The competitive implication is that gas remains the bridge fuel for hard-to-abate industrials in regions where renewables plus storage are not yet dependable enough for baseload process heat and power. Consensus may be underestimating how many industrial assets are still far from full electrification and how sticky retrofit demand can become once one site proves the economics.
