How Rubrik Stock Soared 47.9% Last Month

Rubrik shares surged 47.9% in May 2026, with most of the move coming after Snowflake's strong Q1 report reinforced sentiment across the enterprise data ecosystem. Rubrik itself posted Q1 2027 revenue growth of 39% year over year to $387 million and swung from an adjusted loss to a modest profit, with gross margins widening. The stock remains expensive at 278x adjusted earnings, but the results and Snowflake-linked demand signal support the growth story.

Analysis

RBRK is trading less like a standalone cyber stock and more like a leveraged expression of enterprise cloud capex sentiment. The Snowflake linkage creates a reflexive setup: strong data-platform prints improve confidence in adjacent security/data-protection budgets, but the same linkage means RBRK’s multiple is partly hostage to a bellwether it does not control. That makes the recent surge feel more like a momentum/flow event than a clean fundamentals re-rate.

The bigger second-order issue is duration mismatch. Rubrik’s operating improvement is real, but at ~278x adjusted earnings the market is paying for a much longer runway than the current earnings base can justify if growth decelerates even modestly over the next 2-3 quarters. In other words, the stock is vulnerable to any 1-2% miss in billings, RPO, or guidance because the multiple leaves little room for execution slippage.

Contrarian angle: the market may be underpricing how quickly the Snowflake “halo” can reverse on a soft print, which would likely hit RBRK first through sentiment rather than fundamentals. On the other hand, if Snowflake continues to outperform and AI-security spend remains a board-level priority, RBRK can keep grinding higher because it has become the cleanest public proxy for secure data workflows. The asymmetry favors tactical participation, not blind chase.

Net: the move looks somewhat overextended on valuation, but not yet broken on fundamentals. For investors with a 1-3 month horizon, the better risk/reward is to express the view through relative value or defined-risk upside rather than outright chasing spot after a 48% monthly move.
