AI infrastructure beneficiaries are highlighted: Synopsys (SNPS) posted 42% YoY revenue growth in fiscal Q2 and raised full-year guidance, despite a 12% YTD stock decline, with improved margin outlook as $35B Ansys amortization costs wind down. Constellation Energy (CEG) reported 61% YoY Q1 revenue growth and guided to strong, visible cash flow, but shares are down ~30% YTD after the $16.4B Calpine acquisition; it targets ~20% EPS growth (2026–2029). Microsoft (MSFT) showed AI momentum with its AI business more than doubling its annual revenue run rate (Q3 FY26), alongside 18% YoY revenue growth and 20% YoY net income growth, though it is down >15% YTD and has seen some price-target cuts.

Analysis

The clearest read-through is that AI value is broadening from compute to the bottlenecks that make compute usable. SNPS is the highest-quality “toll road” in the stack, but its earnings power should lag capex cycles by several quarters; that makes the current drawdown more of a margin-timing issue than a demand issue. The strategic Nvidia investment matters less for near-term revenue and more as an implicit validation that design software/IP is becoming harder to substitute, which supports a longer-duration multiple if margins normalize.

CEG looks like the better second-order beneficiary because power scarcity is the real choke point for data-center buildouts. The market is still treating it like a regulated/commodity hybrid, but long-duration contracts tied to AI load should increase terminal value if financing stays contained. The main risk is that investors are underestimating balance-sheet pressure from deal activity; if power forwards soften or hyperscaler demand slows, the scarcity premium can compress quickly.

MSFT is the most institutionally owned name here, so the upside is more about protecting a premium valuation than rerating it higher. The key variable is not cloud growth alone but whether AI attach rates and enterprise monetization keep operating margins from being diluted by capex. Contrarian take: the market may be over-focusing on recent underperformance and missing that a steadier Azure mix can turn this into a cash-flow compounder again, but it is probably not the highest beta recovery trade versus CEG.
