Streamex receives first independent audit for gold-backed token

Streamex (STEX) disclosed that EisnerAmper completed a 3/31/2026 reserve attestation for its gold-backed GLDY token, confirming gold reserves at 3,064.915910 fine troy ounces versus 3,064.674268 tokens redeemed, a small surplus of 0.2416423 ounces, with an unmodified opinion. While the audit improves credibility for the tokenized security (including gold leased via Monetary Metals), the stock is still weak, trading at $0.85 down nearly 90% YoY, and the company recently reported Q1 EPS of -$0.27 with revenue at $0. The company plans monthly third-party attestations going forward, alongside expanded GLDY trading infrastructure and brokerage distribution to improve liquidity.

Analysis

This is more about de-risking the trust layer than proving a revenue model. An independent reserve check can narrow the discount on a tokenized commodity product, but it does little to solve the harder issue: whether the vehicle can accumulate durable, fee-generating circulation without constant promotional spend or dilution. For microcap issuers, that distinction matters because the market usually prices the first credible audit as an operating milestone, then quickly reverts to asking about flow, not proof.

Second-order beneficiaries are the distribution and infrastructure names, not the issuer itself. If institutional channels start treating tokenized gold as acceptable collateral, broker-dealers, custody rails, and proof-of-reserves middleware can capture the recurring economics with less balance-sheet risk than the token sponsor; that is a cleaner way to express adoption than owning the single-product microcap. The flip side is that any future mismatch between reported reserves and redeemable supply would be disproportionately damaging because the business relies on compounding credibility rather than a large asset base.

The main catalyst path is over the next 1-3 months: repeated monthly attestations, evidence of growing token circulation, and whether brokerage access actually converts into secondary liquidity. Over 6-18 months, the trade shifts from "is it real?" to "is there a repeatable spread after fees, leasing costs, and compliance overhead?" A sustained move higher is most likely only if the company shows AUM growth without fresh equity raises; otherwise the stock remains a low-liquidity claim on narrative optionality. The contrarian view is that the market may be overpaying for reserve transparency while underpricing dilution and execution risk.
