Palantir: I Am Raising My Price Target As AIP Momentum Accelerates

Palantir reaffirmed a Buy and raised its price target to $196 from $183 after robust Q2 2026 results. Q2 2026 revenue jumped 93% y/y to $1.935B, with US revenue up 115%, and management materially raised full-year guidance. The call cites accelerating US commercial AIP demand alongside government/defense strength and sovereign AI opportunity to support PLTR’s shift toward a broader enterprise AI platform.

Analysis

The real signal is that PLTR is graduating from a “show-me” AI story into a budget-holder for production deployments. That matters because it pulls spending away from consulting-heavy implementation layers and toward platforms that can sit in the workflow, which is structurally negative for lower-switching-cost analytics and point-solution vendors. In defense, the upside is even more asymmetric: once decision support becomes software-defined, headcount growth and bespoke contractor spend become the substitution margin.

Near term, the stock’s biggest risk is not demand, but expectations. After a print like this, the next 1-3 months are about whether commercial momentum broadens beyond a few large wins; if growth is lumpy or guidance proves too dependent on government/sovereign deals, the multiple can compress quickly even with strong absolute numbers. Over 6-18 months, cloud hyperscalers can bundle similar capabilities into existing enterprise contracts, which could cap PLTR’s pricing power and force higher sales/support intensity to keep growth at this pace.

The consensus is probably underweighting how much of the upside is already in the rerating. I’d treat this as a quality-growth compounder, but not a clean chase at current levels: upside is better expressed with call spreads or pullback entries than outright momentum buying. Relative value looks cleaner long PLTR versus slower-moving software spend buckets like SNOW or MDB over the next quarter, but that trade fails if the next two prints show broad-based commercial expansion and improving margin leverage rather than a concentrated large-deal mix.
