THE ADECCO GROUP Q2 2026 RESULTS

Adecco Group reported Q2 2026 organic revenue growth of +5.6% y/y and a +21% y/y rise in EBITA to €165m (ex one-offs), with EBITA margin up +30 bps to 2.8% on stronger operating leverage. Gross margin improved to 18.6% and productivity rose +6% y/y, while deleveraging continued with net debt/EBITDA at 0.5x (0.5x lower vs a year ago) and LTM cash conversion at 83%. The company also raised its technology-enabled productivity ambition to 70% revenues being agent-enabled by year-end (vs prior 50% target).

Analysis

This is a better signal for the staffing complex than the headline numbers suggest. In a business with meaningful fixed branch and back-office costs, sustained top-line momentum plus productivity gains creates nonlinear operating leverage; that should pull forward EBITA revisions and reduce the market’s willingness to value the group as a pure cyclical. The bigger point is that technology-enabled fulfillment is becoming a competitive moat: if a scaled incumbent can automate more of the workflow without sacrificing fill rates, smaller recruiters and less digitized peers will have to choose between share loss and margin erosion.

The second-order winner is the multi-country, diversified platform model. A firm with exposure across temp, perm, and professional solutions can reallocate capital to the fastest-growing segments, while weaker specialists remain tied to more local labor-market softness. That dynamic is most relevant for Randstad, Hays, and ManpowerGroup: if Adecco keeps taking share, the sector’s dispersion should widen, and the market may start rewarding execution quality over simple GDP beta.

The contrarian risk is that staffing inflects late and reverses fast. Current strength could still be a lagged read-through from prior hiring decisions; if industrial production or PMIs roll over, revenue can decelerate before cost resets fully work through. The thesis is falsified if the next 1-2 quarters show organic growth slipping back toward low single digits or if margin expansion stalls despite continued growth.
