Analysis

This is less a one-day IPO pop than a signal that a strategically important battery-input niche is becoming better capitalized. The first-order winner is the customer base — LGES, CATL, SK On, Samsung SDI and PCB/CCL makers get a better-funded supplier, which reduces qualification risk and helps de-bottleneck ultra-thin foil ramps. The second-order winner may actually be upstream copper: if this capex cycle persists, the industry pulls more cathode and semi-finished copper through the chain, which is cleaner exposure in FCX/COPX than in a single China-linked ADR.

The hidden risk is that fresh equity tends to chase capacity, not margins. In a market where foil pricing is already tied to utilization and product mix, the 6-18 month problem is oversupply: today’s growth story can become tomorrow’s ASP compression story, especially if EV demand decelerates or customers push back on contract renewals. The near-term move is sentiment-driven; the real test is whether the company can convert revenue growth into durable gross margin and operating cash flow after stabilization ends.

Contrarian view: the market may be overestimating how much of this is a franchise premium versus a cyclical materials business with a temporarily favorable demand backdrop. The company’s U.S. listing can improve financing access, but that also makes capacity additions easier, which is usually bearish for industry economics. For investors, the right question is not whether the IPO is strong — it is whether this marks the top of the valuation cycle for foil suppliers before new supply floods the market.
