LM Funding America Announces June 2026 Production and Operational Update

LM Funding reported June 2026 net Bitcoin mined of 8.7 BTC (down from 9.8 BTC in May) with 13.1 BTC sold versus 21.1 BTC in May, leaving Bitcoin HODL at 318.3 BTC as of June 30. The company estimated the value of its 318.3 BTC holdings at ~$18.6M ($0.72/share) using ~$58,600/BTC, and noted approximately $30k of curtailment and energy-sales revenue for June with Q2 energy-sales revenue forecast of ~$117k. As of July 7, that BTC value had risen to ~$20.4M (~$0.79/share) on ~$64,000/BTC, providing a modest positive update even as production declined month-over-month.

Analysis

LMFA is not trading like a clean Bitcoin proxy; it is trading like a financing vehicle with embedded dilution and encumbered assets. The reported BTC discount to equity is misleading because a meaningful slice of the treasury is tied up in a loan structure, and the company has already shown willingness to fund operations through equity issuance. In that setup, BTC upside can be partially leaked to new shareholders, so the market is likely applying a persistent holdco discount rather than a transient mispricing.

Operationally, the hotter-weather efficiency hit matters more than the headline mining count suggests: it raises marginal production cost exactly when small miners need every basis point of spread to avoid perpetual dilution. The curtailment/energy-sales stream is helpful for cash burn, but it is too small to re-rate the equity unless it scales materially over multiple quarters. The real second-order issue is that any AI/HPC pivot will require external capital, GPU access, and credible tenancy economics; until then, it is option value, not earnings power.

Catalyst path is mostly 1-3 months: BTC volatility, another equity raise, or a disclosure around the Galaxy-encumbered coins can move the stock more than mining print improvements. Over 6-18 months, the thesis is binary: either they prove a profitable power/compute strategy or the stock remains a serial-dilution arb tied to BTC. The move is likely overdone on the upside whenever investors anchor on treasury value alone, because the balance sheet is not fully liquid and the float can expand quickly.

Contrarian view: consensus may be underestimating how stubborn the discount can be. A sub-$0.20 stock can look absurd versus BTC NAV, but if the company keeps issuing equity to survive, the per-share claim on that BTC can erode faster than BTC appreciates. The falsifier is simple: sustained reduction in share count or a credible, externally financed HPC contract that converts narrative into recurring gross profit; absent that, the NAV gap is not a floor, it is a moving target.
