Bybit Increases Collateral Ratios Across UTA Loans, Expanding Borrowing Capacity for Traders

Bybit raised Collateral Ratios for UTA Loans across supported crypto assets, boosting recognized collateral value and expanding borrowing capacity—especially for “supersized” single-asset positions. The prior model capped collateral extraction by forcing excess holdings’ collateral ratio to 0%, but the new top tier applies ~10% to 80% collateral ratios depending on the asset, materially increasing liquidity access for large holders (e.g., ETH, SOL, BNB, XRP, ADA, LINK, LTC, TRX, SHIB, PEPE, DOT). The update auto-applies with no user action, while six TradFi-linked xStock assets were added in July to eligible collateral for margin and loans.

Analysis

The market mechanism here is not “more optimism,” it’s more usable leverage. That tends to show up first as higher borrow turnover and deeper fee capture for venues that sit inside the collateral loop, while the underlying assets with the most favorable collateral treatment become quasi-working-capital instruments rather than pure directional bets. In that sense, LINK and TRX are the cleanest winners among the named assets: they are likely to see better hold times, more rehypothecation, and a small but real increase in structural demand from users who care about funding capacity, not just upside.

The less obvious second-order effect is that this increases endogenous risk. When collateral value is recognized more generously, drawdowns can become more violent because the system supports larger initial positioning; in a 5-10% crypto selloff, liquidation pressure can be amplified rather than dampened. That makes the announcement mildly positive for activity over days to weeks, but potentially negative for realized volatility quality over 1-3 months if market conditions soften. A regulatory reaction to tokenized-equity collateralization would be the main medium-term reversal catalyst.

For AAPL and GOOGL, the impact is mostly narrative, not fundamental: tokenized proxies of those names may gain incremental distribution, but there is no credible earnings linkage unless the product scales materially outside the exchange ecosystem. The contrarian miss is that this is less a signal of mature adoption than a sign that exchanges are competing on leverage optics; that usually compresses spreads and increases tail risk rather than creating persistent alpha for the whole sector.
