Camping World reported Q2 revenue of $1.93B (-2.1% YoY), driven by a 16.4% decline in new unit sales, and net income of $43.7M (-24.0%). Adjusted EBITDA guidance was cut to $230M–$270M (from $275M–$325M) as new vehicle gross margin fell 286 bps to 10.9% and used vehicle gross margin fell 397 bps to 16.5% from promotional pressure and inventory actions. Management also lowered the 2026 new RV industry outlook to 290,000–310,000 units (from 325,000–350,000) while keeping used support via used unit growth (+5.2% same-store) and Good Sam margin expansion to 61.8%. Net debt decreased 14.5% to $1.31B on leaner inventory and disciplined floor-plan management, but the near-term demand backdrop remains a key headwind.

Analysis

This is a quality-of-earnings reset, not just a demand miss. The company is defending unit share by using price and inventory cleansing, which supports near-term volume but transfers the pain into gross margin and working capital for the whole channel. That dynamic is negative for dealers with weaker liquidity and for OEMs that still need to move production through a soft retail tape; the second-order effect is more promotional intensity across the RV stack, not just at CWH.

The real bull case is that management is pulling forward the ugliness into one quarter and shrinking the balance sheet at the same time. If inventory is genuinely normalized, then the earnings trough can arrive before the demand trough, but that only matters if the market stabilizes into the fall. The key watch items over the next 1-3 months are July/August retail trends, dealer inventory days, and whether manufacturers push another round of model-year pricing; any renewed wholesale discounting would tell you the destocking cycle is not done.

Contrarianly, the market may be underestimating how much operating leverage disappears when mix shifts away from higher-ticket units and toward used/towables. The recurring services/Good Sam stream helps, but it is not yet large enough to re-rate the equity while the core retail engine is still shrinking. If new industry units stay below the low end of guidance or margins fail to improve sequentially in Q3, the stock remains a balance-sheet story rather than a recovery story.
