Wheaton Precious Metals reported Q2 2026 revenue of $929M (+85% Y/Y) and net earnings of $543M (+86% Y/Y), driven by a 61% jump in the realized gold equivalent price to $4,445/oz and a 14% increase in sales volume to 209k GEOs. Operating cash flow rose 57% to $650M as the company advanced its streaming growth, including closing the $4.3B Antamina silver stream and upsizing liquidity via a $2.5B revolving credit facility (total liquidity $2.6B) while reducing net debt to $1.9B. Management reaffirmed 2026 production guidance of 860k–940k GEOs (weighted to the second half due to mine sequencing) and maintained a long-term target of 50% production growth by 2030 to ~1.2M GEOs, with PBND at 158k GEOs (~2.6 months).

Analysis

WPM is benefiting from a structural shift in who gets financed: as smaller miners face tighter equity and debt markets, the company becomes the preferred capital provider for projects that are too good to lose but too large for traditional project finance. The key second-order effect is that its recent royalty/stream structures are less about near-term revenue contribution and more about securing ROFRs and future financing call options, which can compound deal flow without forcing it to chase weak terms. That is a meaningful moat versus smaller royalty peers that lack the balance sheet to be a flexible lender of last resort.

Near term, the market should not overread the quarter as a pure operating beat. The second-half uplift is mostly timing and sequencing, so sales can easily track production rather than surge, and PBND may drift higher instead of being aggressively drawn down. The real 1-3 month catalysts are a cleaner Antamina grade profile and confirmation that Blackwater/Kurmuk/Kone keep translating into 2027 volumes; the main falsifier is a sustained miss in Antamina silver grades or PBND moving outside the guided band.

Contrarian view: consensus may focus on the headline record results and miss that WPM is effectively a high-quality metal beta wrapper with a growing capital-allocation franchise. That argues for multiple support, but not necessarily immediate upside if gold/silver stall or if the market starts treating the $1.9B net debt load as less temporary than management does. Relative value looks more attractive than an outright chase, because the stock should hold up better than miners in a metals correction while still preserving upside from accretive deal flow and the 2030 growth path.
