Uber, ServiceNow And A Health Care Stock On CNBC's ‘Final Trades'

Vertex Pharmaceuticals reported Q2 EPS of $4.73 (in line) and sales of $3.334B vs $3.232B consensus, and it raised FY2026 sales guidance despite shares falling 2.1% to $540.26. ServiceNow expanded its multi-year partnership with Tech Mahindra to help enterprises move AI projects from pilot to production, while Uber and Baidu launched fully driverless Apollo Go robotaxis in Dubai as the first deployment under their multiyear deal. Stock moves were mixed (NOW +2% to $129.75; UBER +0.7% to $78.55), suggesting modest near-term optimism tied to AI commercialization and updated growth outlook.

Analysis

NOW is the cleanest beneficiary because enterprise AI spending is shifting from pilots to the ugly, implementation-heavy work that determines whether projects survive procurement. That favors platforms that sit in the middle of workflows and governance, so the real upside is not the partnership headline itself but a longer operating runway for larger deployments and stickier renewal economics over the next 2-4 quarters. The main counterweight is bundling risk from Microsoft and Salesforce, which could keep valuation upside capped if buyers decide AI orchestration is a feature rather than a platform.

UBER’s autonomous launch is best viewed as a call option on cheaper supply rather than an immediate earnings driver. If the company can become the demand layer for multiple AV stacks, it can take margin over time without funding the underlying capex, which is a meaningful 12-18 month margin lever; if regulators, utilization, or consumer acceptance stall, the stock should revert to ride-share unit economics. BIDU is the hidden beneficiary only if this proves exportable IP, but one city does not yet justify underwriting a new revenue stream.

VRTX looks like the highest-quality cash compounder in the group, but the post-earnings dip says expectations were already high and the market wants more pipeline proof. That creates a contrarian setup where downside is probably limited unless there is a safety or competitive surprise, while upside depends on another 1-3 quarters of execution confirming that 2026 guidance is durable. The move is not broken, just not cheap, so this is more a buy-the-dip defense name than a momentum chase.
