Analysis

The market is still pricing GEV mostly as a power-generation bottleneck story, but the more durable monetization is the grid interconnect layer: transformers, switchgear, and software have tighter supply, longer replacement cycles, and more pricing power than gas turbines. That shifts the earnings mix toward higher-visibility backlog conversion and away from pure project timing, which is why the multiple can stay elevated even if turbine growth normalizes.

Second-order winners are the hyperscalers that can secure hookups fastest; losers are the ones forced to wait in utility queues, because delayed energization pushes data-center revenue out without reducing capex. The real competitive risk is not just Siemens/Hitachi losing share, but broader margin pressure on anyone forced to chase capacity with higher working capital and longer lead times.
