NG ENERGY PROVIDES UPDATE ON OPERATIONS AT SINU-9 AND MARIA CONCHITA

NG Energy spudded Magico-2X on June 26 targeting the newly discovered Pre-CDO–San Cayetano formation at Sinú-9, following Hechicero-1X tests up to 26.4 MMcf/d gross (10.3 MMcf/d net). The INFRAES Jobo pipeline loop is completed and commissioning at Jobo/Guayabal should lift takeaway capacity to 40–45 MMcf/d gross (15.6–17.6 MMcf/d net), versus current 30 MMcf/d gross, while current Sinú-9 production is ~17.5 MMcf/d gross (6.8 MMcf/d net). At Maria Conchita, Aruchara-1 workover runs through July 10, enabling Aruchara-6 spud thereafter, and the company received a US$15m June 2026 installment from Maurel & Prom, taking total cash received to ~US$135m toward the US$150m total.

Analysis

This reads more like a monetization/de-risking event than a pure operating surprise. For a small-cap gas name, the bottleneck is rarely the reservoir; it is whether takeaway, processing, and field uptime let you convert testing rates into paid molecules. If the new loop and commissioning actually clear the constraint, the market should start valuing the company on sustainable cash generation rather than headline well rhetoric, which is a meaningfully different multiple regime.

The balance-sheet implication is the cleaner near-term upside. The scheduled cash receipt lowers the odds of an equity raise or ugly financing terms, which matters more for this type of name than one incremental well result. Second-order, if the company can keep adding wells without infrastructure resets, it strengthens the investability of Colombian domestic gas as a scarcity trade; that would be supportive for peers with similar end-market exposure, but it can also cap the scarcity premium if supply growth becomes more visible.

The contrarian risk is that the market may be overrewarding what is mostly a timing update. The next 30-90 days are about commissioning discipline and whether production exits the current range; if volumes do not step up or uptime disappoints, this will fade back into the "good geology, weak execution" bucket. Over 6-18 months, the thesis only works if Maria Conchita and Sinú-9 prove repeatable cash generation, not just isolated well tests.
