Analyst sets Tesla stock price target for 12 months

Deutsche Bank reiterated a Buy rating on Tesla and set a $465 12-month price target (~17% upside) despite expecting Q2 adjusted EPS of $0.36 vs. $0.47 consensus. The note highlights long-term autonomy/robotics tailwinds, including Robotaxi operating progress in Austin, Optimus targeting ~1,000 units/week by September, Cybercab ramp focused on engineering validation, and AI5 chip tape-out. Near-term risks include a delayed Robotaxi timeline and Cybercab execution challenges, while Street targets cited average ~$402.69 with a Hold consensus as the stock is up ~23% to ~$396.67.

Analysis

TSLA is still trading like a long-duration option on autonomy and robotics, not a near-term carmaker. That is why a softer quarter may not matter much unless it comes with deteriorating gross margin or a higher capex path that forces the market to question whether the AI/robotics stack can be funded internally. The key sensitivity is multiple compression: if investors conclude the story has slipped from 2026-27 commercialization into an open-ended science project, the stock can de-rate fast even if delivery volumes remain respectable.

The immediate winner is TSLA’s equity itself, because a constructive analyst call can reinforce technical support and attract trend-following capital. Second-order beneficiaries are the broader AI/growth complex and any supplier chain exposed to in-house compute and training demand; the losers are legacy OEMs and autonomy peers that still need to prove unit economics, not just product demos. That said, delayed rollout timing also gives rivals like Waymo, GM, and Mobileye more runway to close the gap, so a slow Tesla ramp is not just a Tesla problem — it can reset the competitive bar for the whole sector.

Contrarianly, the market may be underestimating how little hard cash flow is embedded in the bull case today. A stock this large can absorb a miss, but only if management preserves credibility on the autonomy cadence and avoids sounding like the 2026-27 ramp is slipping again. The near-term setup is therefore asymmetric around the earnings call: upside comes from reaffirmation and clean execution data, while downside comes from any evidence that the robotaxi/Optimus narrative is outrunning operational reality.
