Memory is the cleanest near-term read-through. Rising prices there are an early indicator that the ecosystem is moving from headline AI enthusiasm into real procurement scarcity, which tends to benefit component vendors first and force later-stage buyers to absorb cost inflation. That is constructive for suppliers like MU over the next 6–12 months, but it also raises the probability that the hyperscalers’ return on invested capital inflects lower before revenue catches up.

Consensus is probably underpricing the possibility that the capex cycle itself becomes the story rather than AI demand. The market is treating this as a bullish secular investment theme, but the trade may be better expressed as long the enablers, short the cash-intensive integrators most exposed to delayed payback. If earnings guide to a slower monetization curve, the first break will likely be multiple compression, not fundamental collapse.
