Hexagon Purus ASA (HPURF) Q2 2026 Earnings Call Transcript

Hexagon Purus reported Q2 revenue of NOK 146 million, ~25% lower YoY, with the prior-year comparison impacted by NOK 38 million of revenue from the divested U.S. Aerospace business unit. The company cited good order intake across Hydrogen Infrastructure and “BVI,” providing visibility into H2, but also announced further workforce reductions in Germany as it completes operational restructuring to align its cost base. Overall, the quarter shows weaker top-line performance offset by improving order momentum.

Analysis

The market should read this less as a demand inflection than as a survival reset. The near-term incremental positive is cost discipline: if the German cuts actually flow through, the business can improve EBITDA and cash burn faster than revenue can reaccelerate, which matters more in a capital-scarce hydrogen equipment tape. The catch is that order intake is not yet the same thing as conversion; until backlog turns into shipped systems, the stock remains a story of deferred revenue rather than durable growth.

Second-order, the divestiture cleans up reported comps but also strips out a diversifying revenue stream, leaving the remaining core more exposed to project timing and customer capex pauses. That should pressure the sector to separate winners from survivors: firms with lower fixed costs and less reliance on subsidy-driven infrastructure rollouts can gain share, while higher-burn hydrogen names may face multiple compression as investors demand evidence of self-funding. The workforce reduction is also a double-edged sword: it helps margin optics now, but if demand returns, constrained operating capacity could cap upside.

Time horizon matters. Over the next few days, any bounce is likely technical around "cost-cutting + visibility"; over 1-3 months, the key catalyst is Q3 execution on margin and cash usage; over 6-18 months, the real question is whether hydrogen hardware becomes a niche market with periodic orders or a scalable platform. The thesis is falsified if management shows sequential order conversion without further dilution and a credible path to positive operating leverage; it is reinforced if revenue stays choppy and restructuring is followed by additional financing needs.
