The article argues the stock still looks cheap at just under 8x sales, with a potential path to $208 billion market cap if revenue reaches $40 billion by end-2028. The piece is optimistic on CoreWeave’s AI data center growth but notes heavy financing costs, including $536 million of Q1 interest expense and $20 billion raised this year through debt and equity.

Analysis

CoreWeave is less a “winner-takes-all” equity story than a financing-and-power allocation trade. The real second-order beneficiary is Nvidia: every incremental GPU deployment inside a financed neocloud expands chip pull-through and extends utilization across the ecosystem, while CoreWeave effectively becomes a balance-sheet multiplier for AI demand. That also means the bottleneck is shifting from model demand to capital structure and power interconnects; the stocks most exposed to cheaper capital, utility hookups, and data-center equipment can outperform even if AI software monetization stays uneven.

The market is likely underestimating how fragile the current growth math is to financing spreads and asset-level execution. A capital-intensive hypergrowth business with rising debt service can look optically cheap on sales while still being highly levered to refinancing windows; if credit markets widen or growth decelerates for even two quarters, equity value can rerate much faster than backlog would suggest. Conversely, backlog quality matters: concentration in a handful of hyperscalers and frontier-model buyers creates a real “revocation risk” if any one customer internalizes capacity or delays training spend.

The contrarian read is that the “cheap versus sales” framing may be the wrong comp set. For CRWV, backlog conversion, asset life, and cost of capital should be compared with infrastructure-like assets, not software multiples; on that basis, the margin of safety is thinner. A more subtle risk is that successful capital raises can crowd out equity returns by keeping growth funded but suppressing per-share upside if returns on incremental gigawatt capacity fall as the buildout scales.
