Sustained EBITDAaL growth driven by resilient top-line, value management, and continuous efficiency gains

Orange Belgium delivered H1 2026 revenue of €966.5m (+0.4% YoY) alongside a sharp EBITDAaL rebound to €292.5m (+10.5% YoY) and a +277 bps margin expansion to 30.3%. Net profit surged to €17.6m from €2.5m (+614% YoY), while net financial debt fell 5.8% to €1.77bn. Management upgraded 2026 EBITDAaL growth to above 5% and kept eCAPEX at ~€360m, supported by value management, cost synergies/efficiency, and one-offs.

Analysis

The key takeaway is not the modest top-line, but the spread between revenue growth and EBITDA growth: this looks like a mix shift toward better pricing discipline and real operating leverage. For a leveraged telecom, that matters because each incremental margin point reduces equity risk more than raw subscriber growth; it also raises the probability of sustained cash generation without needing aggressive capex.

The medium-term upside is the network/wholesale angle. If regulatory approvals land, the open-access fiber strategy can become a capital-efficiency story: fewer duplicated builds, better asset utilization, and a path to wholesale revenue that is typically ignored until 2-4 quarters after launch. That is constructive for ORANY and mildly negative for weaker local access competitors and any operator relying on price-led acquisition rather than network quality.

The contrarian risk is that the market may over-index on the margin print while underestimating how much of the half-year improvement was timing-related. If H2 proves less seasonal or one-offs fade, the earnings run-rate can normalize quickly, especially if Belgian promo intensity rises once new fiber services are commercialized. The falsifier is simple: if EBITDAaL growth falls back below the upgraded guide or net debt stops trending down, the re-rating case weakens; if wholesale/regulatory milestones slip, the structural thesis gets pushed out 6-12 months.
