CASI Pharmaceuticals Announces First Half 2026 Business and Financial Results

CASI Pharmaceuticals reported 1H26 revenues of $9.8M, down 5.8% YoY ($10.4M to $9.8M), driving a narrower but still large net loss of $20.0M (vs. $24.1M). Liquidity weakened, with cash and cash equivalents falling to $3.8M from $5.6M at 12/31/2025, despite a $15M convertible note financing. Operationally, the company dosed the first patient in its China Phase 1/2 CID-103 AMR study and completed ITP Part A enrollment with a max tested dose of 1,200 mg, while receiving favorable final arbitration results and a settlement that rescinds a purported EVOMELA® license termination.

Analysis

The equity is now less a biotech story than a control-and-solvency story. The most valuable assets are still non-operational: an uncertain legal receivable, a pending restructuring path, and a narrow set of corporate actions that could transfer value to insiders before it reaches minority holders. OTC quotation matters because it reduces institutional sponsorship and makes any headline-driven move more fragile, while also increasing the odds of sharp, low-float squeezes on filings rather than on fundamentals.

The related-party financing and concentrated governance are the key second-order risks. That structure usually lowers the probability that any incremental capital will be raised on terms favorable to common equity, and it increases the chance that cash, if collected, is used to stabilize the balance sheet rather than fund meaningful growth. In practical terms, the pipeline is a long-dated call option; the nearer-term P&L is still driven by liquidity runway, settlement timing, and whether the company pivots into an asset sale or going-private transaction.

The market may be overestimating the downside protection from litigation and underestimating the dilution/subordination stack. A favorable award only matters if it is collected quickly and remains available after creditors and transaction costs; otherwise it is just a contingent asset supporting a narrative, not intrinsic equity value. The thesis breaks if there is a disclosed cash collection, a clean refinancing that extends runway without punitive dilution, or a bona fide takeout/going-private proposal at a material premium.
