In data centers, the scarce economics sit in electrical fit-out, cooling, commissioning, and project management — the incremental value accrues to firms with certified execution capacity, not to generic contractors. That makes the secondary winners the switchgear, HVAC, and building-automation suppliers with the shortest lead times and the best reference projects; the losers are generalist installers that lack specialist talent and get forced into lower-margin work.

The first-order upside is mostly 1-3 quarters out: order intake, pricing, and backlog mix. The bigger 6-18 month effect is talent scarcity; as more Nordic contractors move into data centers, wage inflation and subcontractor poaching can compress margins across the whole technical-services stack. If Swedish grid congestion or permitting delays intensify, the business could still post headline growth while cash conversion worsens and working capital absorbs the “growth.”

Consensus is likely underestimating how binary execution becomes in this niche. A new dedicated unit is often a defensive move to protect share, but it can also be a sign that management sees enough demand to justify reallocating scarce engineers away from other end markets. The thesis breaks if backlog does not re-rate into higher-margin specialist work over the next two reporting cycles, or if data center project wins come with margin dilution rather than pricing power.
