Sprinklr reported Q2 FY2027 revenue of $213.7 million, up 1% year over year, while subscription revenue rose 3% to $194.8 million; non-GAAP operating income was $31.3 million, or a 15% margin. Total RPO increased 11% to $1.03 billion and AI-native SKU ARR grew 40%, supporting raised full-year subscription-revenue guidance to $782.5 million-$784.5 million. However, professional-services revenue fell to $18.9 million from $23.6 million and services gross margin was negative 22%, prompting a lower full-year free-cash-flow outlook of about $135 million and CEO-led remediation of the services unit. The company completed a $125 million accelerated share repurchase, buying approximately 22 million shares, and ended the quarter with $452.9 million of cash and no debt.

Analysis

CXM’s investable question is whether enterprise retention has genuinely inflected before growth reaccelerates, not whether services can be repaired in isolation. Longer-duration contracts improve reported backlog but defer conversion into near-term revenue; the gap between total and current contractual obligations therefore makes the next two quarters’ current-RPO and subscription-growth trajectory the critical verification points. The new CRO and CEO’s direct services oversight concentrate execution risk: this can speed remediation, but it also creates key-person bandwidth risk during the seasonally important large-deal period.

AI adoption is not yet automatically margin-accretive. Higher cloud, data, and forward-deployed-engineer costs mean CXM must demonstrate that AI engagements convert into priced production deployments and expansion, rather than bespoke implementations that shift cost from services to subscription COGS. A successful outcome would support a higher-quality software revenue mix and expansion-rate durability over 6-18 months; failure would cap operating-margin recovery despite improving bookings.

The market may over-discount the services shortfall if it proves limited to partner utilization and implementation timing, particularly given net cash and reduced share count. Conversely, management’s characterization of the issue is not independently validated until services losses narrow without a renewed decline in cash conversion. The most relevant competitive read-through is for CRM, NICE and GENESYS: platform consolidation can pressure point-solution vendors, but CXM’s low growth leaves it vulnerable if enterprises standardize AI customer-service workflows inside broader CRM/contact-center suites instead.

Key Decisions for Investors

  • Maintain CXM as a watch-list long rather than add aggressively before Q3: initiate only if subscription growth holds or exceeds 3% and current RPO reaccelerates above its present low-single-digit rate. Target a 6-12 month rerating on credible FY28 acceleration; exit if subscription growth slips below 3% or full-year free-cash-flow guidance is cut again.
  • For a defined-risk event position, buy CXM 3-6 month call spreads only after confirming post-earnings support and available implied-volatility data; fund with a put spread rather than naked downside. The thesis requires evidence that services gross margin improves sequentially and that AI-related hosting costs stabilize as a percentage of subscription revenue.
  • Use a relative-value screen of long CXM versus short CRM only if CXM’s valuation remains materially discounted on enterprise-value/free-cash-flow after adjusting for net cash. This isolates an execution recovery from broad software multiple moves, but invalidate if CRM shows materially faster AI monetization or CXM fails to translate engagements into subscription expansion.
  • Set an operational alert for the next two reports: services gross margin must move materially toward breakeven, while cash collections recover despite lower services billings. Continued negative services margins alongside another FCF reset would indicate the problem is structural and favors avoiding CXM despite buyback support.
