New ABB and BCG report highlights growing role of direct current technologies in future power systems

Rapid growth in AI computing, electrification and renewable energy is renewing interest in direct-current (DC) technology for future electrical systems. The article argues that both alternating-current and DC architectures will have strategically important roles in meeting rising electricity demand, with common standards needed to support broader DC deployment.
