OMA (OMAB) Q3 2026 Earnings Call Transcript
Source: The Motley Fool
OMA served 7.7 million passengers in Q3 2026, up 1.3% year over year, while total aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue rose 8.3% to MXN 3.8 billion and adjusted EBITDA increased about 9% to MXN 2.9 billion, with a 75.0% margin. Net income grew 2.9% to MXN 1.6 billion, partly offset by financing expense up 16.5% to MXN 348 million and contracted-services costs up 19%. Management expects low-single-digit traffic growth in 2027, plans a nominal tariff increase slightly above 4% from Jan. 1, 2027, and expects OMA Carga to sustain high-teens growth; a $17 million, 120-room Monterrey Hyatt Place is expected to open in Q4 2028.
Analysis
The earnings mix supports a cautiously positive operating view, but not an unqualified growth rerating. Near term, tariff realization and commercial yield—not passenger volume—are doing most of the work; low-single-digit traffic guidance limits the case for a broad demand-led acceleration. The more durable upside is Monterrey’s expanded commercial capacity and cargo, though both need conversion into incremental cash flow: cargo growth partly reflects longer warehouse dwell time, which may not indicate proportionate throughput growth, while construction revenue is not recurring airport revenue.
The key downside is that OMA’s largest airline relationships create asymmetric merger exposure. If Viva and Volaris combine, network optimization could support traffic, but a consolidated carrier could also gain leverage in capacity and commercial negotiations; regulatory approval alone would not resolve that uncertainty. Wage-linked security and cleaning costs, higher interest expense, and development spending can also absorb incremental EBITDA. The 75% margin should therefore not be extrapolated without tracking cash conversion, debt costs, and capex.
Over 1–3 months, monitor the antitrust decision, 2027 tariff implementation, and traffic/capacity updates. Over 6–18 months, the test is whether new commercial space and cargo growth lift revenue per passenger and operating cash flow enough to offset cost inflation and investment. A positive quarter may be priced in quickly; absent valuation and share-price context, conviction on absolute upside is limited.

Key Decisions for Investors
- OMAB: Hold or build exposure only on weakness rather than chase the results. The operating mix is constructive, but low-single-digit traffic guidance and uncertainty around airline consolidation cap near-term visibility. Reassess after the next traffic update and tariff implementation.
- Track quarterly commercial revenue per passenger, OMA Carga growth alongside cargo volumes/dwell time, and operating cash flow after capex. If commercial yield improves while cash conversion weakens or net leverage rises, the expansion thesis is not translating into shareholder value.
- Treat the Viva–Volaris antitrust ruling as a catalyst, not a directional trade by itself. Falsify the constructive traffic thesis if post-decision airline capacity or OMAB passenger growth weakens materially; improved route coverage without capacity cuts would reduce the concentration concern.
- No actionable view on VINCI (DG) from this call: the technical-assistance discussion confirms an ongoing relationship but does not establish a material change to DG earnings or economics.
