The second-order loser is the labor-heavy middleman layer. If AI is being framed as productivity improvement, CFOs are likely to push for fewer external contractors, tighter project scopes, and more standardization, which can compress revenue at IT services and consulting names even as margins look deceptively stable. Upstream, the real leverage sits with hyperscalers and infrastructure suppliers; if usage rises, power, cooling, and GPU demand can outgrow the visible enterprise software spend.
