Any prolonged uncertainty around protection upgrades keeps a small scarcity premium embedded in Finland vs Sweden/Nord Pool baseload, which supports merchant generators and penalizes electricity-intensive industrials through higher input costs and weaker margin visibility. The beneficiaries are Nordic sellers with unhedged or partially hedged output; the losers are pulp, paper, and metals names that cannot fully pass through power costs.

The contrarian read is that the headline likely overstates immediate downside because enforcement being paused is not the same as an operational failure. If OL3 continues to run near full load into the next few disclosures, the legal overhang can fade quickly, and the stock-level impact may be less about cash flow and more about a lower risk premium. What would falsify the constructive view on Finnish power prices is a clean court resolution, no change in OL3 availability, and no widening in Finland-Sweden power basis over the next 1-3 months.
